Raiders vs Sharks Preview and Prediction

It’s eighth up against ninth inside the Queensland bubble on Saturday afternoon as the Sharks attempt to break a five-match losing run against the Raiders.

After enduring a lean stretch following the controversial sacking of coach John Morris, the Sharks have turned a corner, coming into this clash with five wins from their last six games.

Four of those victories have been by 1-12 margins, highlighting Cronulla’s grittiness and determination to ice a game when the going gets tough.

The Sharks’ have climbed into the top eight on the back of their recent success, but with several teams looking to break into a finals position, they need to keep winning.

Meanwhile, the Raiders pulled off a big upset over Manly last week, although it must be noted that Tom Trbojevic was missing for the Sea Eagles.

Canberra had lost nine of their last 11 matches since Round 5 before that win and we are going to need to see more from the Green Machine before backing them.

However, the good news for the Raiders is that they are well and truly back in the finals race with that win – and another victory here would see them draw level on points with the Sharks.

VERDICT:

The Sharks may have lost their last five games against the Raiders, but they were all close games and decided by 1-12 margins.

Canberra were also grand finalists and preliminary finalists during that run and have regressed badly since those seasons.

Cronulla have won five of their last six games and are playing the better football at the moment, while their last six games have gone under the total points line.

We’ll be backing another low-scoring affair involving the Sharks and have a little something extra on Cronulla pulling off another tight win (Best under 48.5 points odds $1.90 with Sportsbet)
