Cronulla Sharks vs Canberra Raiders Preview & Prediction

Both the Sharks and Raiders will be looking for an immediate response to their first losses of the season last week when they square off on Sunday night.

Cronulla arguably are in more dire straits after last week – they were crushed 32-6 by the Tigers and lost multiple key forwards to injury, including Toby Rudolf, Royce Hunt and Dale Finucane.

Now, the Sharks come up against a team they have struggled against recently, losing nine of the last 10 meetings.

Nicho Hynes hasn’t really got going in attack and if he struggles, the Sharks will find life tough this season.

Meanwhile, the Raiders are doing exactly what you’d expect – bringing teams down to their level and absolutely loving the scrap.

Canberra have put in some great performances so far this season, beating the Knights and Tigers by 13+ margins and narrowly going down on the road to the Warriors last week.

Ricky Stuart will smell another classic Raiders ambush here as underdogs.

VERDICT:

Raiders excellent value as outsiders – as mentioned, they’ve won nine of their last 10 against the Sharks, whose forward pack has been decimated by injury.

We’ll play it safe with our best bet and back the Raiders with a +12.5 head start and Under 50.5 total points, which has landed in all six combined games for the teams in 2024 (Best Raiders +12.5 line & Under 50.5 total points odds $1.70 with Dabble.)
