Bulldogs vs Sharks Preview and Prediction

Despite winning just two games for the season, the Bulldogs will be confident of claiming the two points when they come up against the Sharks on Sunday afternoon.

One of Canterbury’s two victories for 2021 came against the Sharks back in April in an 18-12 triumph, while they’ve also won two of the last three meetings between the teams.

Furthermore, the Bulldogs have offered a great response after being demolished 66-0 by the Sea Eagles earlier this month.

Indeed, the Dogs have pushed competition heavyweights the Roosters and Rabbitohs all the way over the last fortnight, going down by respective 22-16 and 32-24 scores.

Canterbury could have easily upset Souths last week and were leading at half-time before Lachlan Lewis had a brain snap after the siren that resulted in the Dogs being reduced to 12 men for the first 10 minutes of the second stanza.

While the Bulldogs have been moving in the right direction, the same can’t be said for the Sharks, who have lost two of their last three matches.

Cronulla may have been inside the eight at the start of the round, but they can’t keep relying on other teams to fall off – and at the time of writing, Canberra have leapfrogged them into eighth following their upset win over the Eels on Thursday night.

When the Sharks are off, they are OFF, and they’ve been poor in recent defeats to the lowly Broncos and last week to the Raiders.

VERDICT:

We give the Bulldogs a real chance in this clash, but we’ll be focusing on the total points for our best bet.

The last 17 meetings between the teams have seen under 49.5 points, the Bulldogs have seen under that points total in 13 of their 17 games, while six of the Sharks’ last seven matches have gone under the total points line (best under 49.5 total points odds $1.90 with Ladbrokes).
