Gold Coast Titans vs Dolphins Preview & Prediction

The Titans and Dolphins square off for the second time this season – and if it’s anything close to the first, we’re in for a thrilling afternoon at Cbus Super Stadium.

Gold Coast cruised out to a 26-0 lead back in April before the Dolphins staged the equal-biggest comeback in NRL history, piling on 28 unanswered points to claim a miraculous victory.

However, the Dolphins have struggled since then, losing six of their last eight games and coming into this encounter on a four-match losing run, leaking 160 points.

The Titans have gone 4-4 and were unlucky to go down on the road against the Raiders last week, falling 26-22 after David Fifita had a try wrongly disallowed just before half-time.

Gold Coast had won their previous two games before that against the Tigers and a huge upset over the Broncos, but the loss against the Raiders saw them drop outside the top eight.

With the Dolphins further back in 12th spot, it’s a must-win game for both teams if they want to make a charge for the finals.

Origin has affected both teams here, with Fifita, Tino Fa’asuamaleaiu and Moeaki Fotuaika all missing for the Titans, while Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow – arguably the form back in the NRL – sidelined for the Dolphins.

VERDICT

Another tough game to call in Origin week. The Titans were clearly the better team back in April, but took their foot off the gas and were made to pay the ultimate price.

The Dolphins have been terrible for the most part over the last couple of months, so even with three key forwards missing (and also AJ Brimson), I’ll back the Titans at home to edge this (Best Titans win H2H odds $1.72 with bet365.)
