Raiders vs Titans Preview and Prediction

Gold Coast haven’t had much success against Canberra in recent times, but they’ve got an excellent shot at the upset when the two teams meet at Kogarah on Saturday night.

The Titans are unlucky that their home game has been moved to Sydney, but that shouldn’t have too much of a negative impact on a team that has won seven of their last eight matches dating back to last season.

Gold Coast have established themselves as the premier team in Queensland and are coming off back-to-back victories over their rivals, defeating Brisbane 28-16 and the Cowboys 44-8 over the last fortnight.

AJ Brimson and Corey Thompson both crossed for a double, while David Fifita also scored another try as he settles into his new club. Boasting one of the strongest forward packs in the NRL, the Titans will be confident of matching Canberra’s big men through the middle.

The Raiders haven’t set the world on fire to begin the 2021 season. Ricky Stuart’s side started well enough with a 18-point win over the Tigers, but they were fortunate to come away with a two-point win over the Sharks before last week’s capitulation against the Warriors, who scored the last four tries of the match to win 34-31.

Both these teams have had no trouble in breaking through opposition defence so far in 2021 – the Titans top the NRL for line breaks with 20, while the Raiders are equal second with 16.

With both teams scoring a lot of points last week, I can see another high-scoring game on the cards. There’s not much value siding with the Raiders given what they’ve produced so far this season, so I’m happy to side with an in-form Titans side as the underdogs here.
