Raiders vs Titans Preview and Prediction

It’s a must-win game for the Raiders and Titans as the two sides collide in the nation’s capital on Saturday night.

Both teams had high hopes for the 2021 season, but the Raiders and Titans are languishing in the bottom half of the ladder after 16 rounds and aren’t performing anywhere close to a top eight level.

Canberra have lost eight of their last 10 matches, with their two wins coming against the lowly Broncos and Bulldogs, while the Titans are on a four-match losing streak with also just two wins from their last 10.

In saying that, both sides are still in with a chance of making the finals if they lift their level for the last couple of months of the season.

The Raiders are in 10th spot and just two points behind the seventh-placed Dragons, but they’ve only defeated one team currently in the top eight all season and that was the Sharks in Round 2.

Ricky Stuart’s side is coming off a 22-20 loss to the Dragons in their last outing, with their second-half woes once again haunting them.

Meanwhile, the Titans were embarrassed in conceding 48 second-half points to Manly in their last display, losing 56-24 at home.

Gold Coast have the third-worst defence in the NRL and have conceded 35 points or more in seven of their last eight defeats.

VERDICT:

Both teams are out of form and desperate for the two points, but we’re going to lean with the Green Machine.

Canberra have the home ground advantage and have won the last five meetings between the teams, with the Titans last tasting victory in the nation’s capital back in 2016.

With Gold Coast’s defence in shambles, we will be backing the Raiders to win with plenty of points (best Raiders win & over 50.5 points odds $2.60 with Ladbrokes)
