Titans vs Knights Preview and Prediction
Gold Coast hold an intimidating home record over the Knights and with Mitchell Pearce sidelined for the next three months, the Titans will be very confident of registering a sixth straight win over Newcastle on their home turf.
Indeed, the Titans are unbeaten against the Knights at Cbus Super Stadium since 2015. They have won the last five meetings at the venue and scored 30 or more points in all of those victories. It doesn’t get much more convincing than that.
Touted by many to play finals in 2021, the Titans have gone 2-2 to start the season as they continue to form combinations within their new-look team.
Encouragingly, big off-season recruits David Fifita and Tino Fa’asuamaleaui have been impressive to start the season. The Titans battled hard but were ultimately outclassed by 16 points against the Raiders last week.
Meanwhile, the Knights endured a horror day at the office last weekend, losing at home to the Dragons and seeing Pearce suffer a pectoral injury that will see him miss up to three months.
Newcastle have now lost back-to-back home games after going down to the Tigers a fortnight ago and now must visit a ground they haven’t won at in six years.
There is some good news for Knights fans with Kalyn Ponga a chance to return, but Pearce is a massive out and could impact their chances to make the eight.
Overall, the stats are too big to ignore here. The Titans have won the last five encounters at this ground and scored 30 points in all of them. Gold Coast to prevail comfortably again.
