Sea Eagles vs Broncos Preview and Prediction
Manly will be looking to continue their excellent run of recent form when they face the struggling Broncos in Magic Round at Suncorp on Friday night.
It’s no surprise Manly’s resurgence has coincided with the return of Tom Trbojevic. The star fullback has been on fire since recovering from his hamstring injury, registering five tries, eight try assists, nine line breaks and running for over 800 metres in four games.
He was almost solely responsible for the Sea Eagles’ comeback win over the Warriors last weekend, scoring or setting up six of the team’s seven tries.
That win lifted Manly up to ninth on the ladder and another victory on Friday night should see them rise into the top eight.
Only the undefeated Panthers have been able to defeat the Sea Eagles since Trbojevic’s return – do the Broncos have it in them to cause the upset?
It’s unlikely, although Brisbane have shown signs of improvement over the last few weeks.
The Broncos pushed competition leaders Penrith all the way in a 20-12 defeat at home, but that good work was undone when they were crushed by 40 points against the Eels the following week.
However, the Broncos bounced back strongly and produced a stirring comeback to conquer the Titans 36-28 a fortnight ago. But once more, Brisbane couldn’t build on that performance, going down late in a 17-16 loss to the Cowboys last week.
Nevertheless, the Broncos have showed they can be competitive over these last few weeks, especially at Suncorp. Manly certainly deserve favouritism with Trbojevic in lethal form, but this clash should go right down to the wire.
