Sea Eagles vs Broncos Preview & Prediction

One of the most anticipated matches of Magic Round features the in-form Broncos gunning for a fourth consecutive victory against the Sea Eagles.

Brisbane suffered a slow start to the season after big improvement was expected with the off-season signings of Adam Reynolds and Kurt Capewell, but have surged into some superb form over the last few weeks.

It started with a big 34-14 win over the Bulldogs before impressive victories over the high-flying Sharks (16-7) and last season’s grand finalists the Rabbitohs (32-12).

Reynolds is starting to come into his own and thrive in the leadership role, guiding his young team around the paddock and scoring a try against his former club Souths last week.

With young and speedy outside backs in Selwyn Cobbo, Kotoni Staggs and Herbie Farnworth – along with the resurgent Corey Oates – the Broncos all of a sudden have tons of firepower out wide, while any forward pack containing Payne Haas, Kurt Capwell and Pat Carrigan is a force.

Meanwhile, the Sea Eagles snapped a two-game losing run with a comfortable 36-22 win over the Tigers last week, with Ben Trbojevic celebrating his starting debut alongside brothers Tom and Jake with two tries.

It continued more of the same for Manly, who consistently beat up the lesser teams but always stumble when coming up against the elite.

The question is what category do the Broncos fall into at the moment?

VERDICT:

The Broncos have been very impressive over the last few weeks and in front of a packed Suncorp Stadium, they are good value as underdogs to register a fourth straight win.

We’re also expecting some points to be scored – Manly have seen over 36.5 in their last four games, while five of the last six meetings have produced over 36.5 (Best Over 36.5 total points odds $1.90 with bet365.)
