Titans vs Sea Eagles Preview and Prediction

Manly and Gold Coast bring totally opposite form lines into this NRL Round 15 showdown at Cbus Super Stadium on Sunday.

The Sea Eagles are flying after their slow start to the season and come into this encounter with seven wins from their last nine matches.

By contrast, the Titans have stumbled after their bright start to the year and have lost seven of their last nine games, slipping down to 10th on the ladder as a result.

Manly are coming off a 50-18 demolition job of the Cowboys last week – and they did it without Tom Trbojevic in the team. Their star No. 1 returns for this clash and will be looking to continue his extraordinary form.

The Sea Eagles have been ruthless against Queensland opposition this season – they’ve won all three such matches this season, scoring an average of 45.33 points and winning by a margin of 37. It doesn’t get much more dominant than that.

Gold Coast meanwhile have been unlucky over the last fortnight, going down by six points to the Storm and falling in a heartbreaking 35-34 defeat to the Roosters last week.

Defence continue to be major issue for the Titans – they’ve conceded 35 points or more in six of their last seven defeats. That has to change if they want to challenge for the top eight.

VERDICT:

Manly are the team in form and will only be more dangerous with Trbojevic back in the side. They’ve also won four of the last five games between the teams on the Gold Coast.

We can expect a high-scoring affair here – Manly have been crushing Queensland teams this season and have scored 36+ points in five of their last six wins, while the Titans have leaked 35+ points in six of their last seven defeats.

Additionally, Gold Coast’s last five matches at Cbus Super Stadium have gone over the total points line, while four of the last six meetings have seen over 50.5 points (best Manly win & over 50.5 points odds $2.50 with Sportsbet).
