Eels vs Sea Eagles Preview and Prediction

Arguably the match of the round awaits at Bankwest on Sunday afternoon as the Eels and Sea Eagles square off in a heavyweight encounter between two of the competition’s in-form sides.

Parramatta are flying to start the season, winning nine of their 10 games, with their only defeat an upset to the Dragons back in Round 5.

The Eels have built up a strong defence that concedes an average of just 14 points per game, but Mitchell Moses and Clint Gutherston are also leading an explosive attack that has seen them win their last five matches by 13+ margins, scoring 30+ points in all of those victories.

However, only one of those wins has come against a current top eight side, so this clash will give a true indication of where the Eels stand after 11 rounds.

Meanwhile, the Sea Eagles have surged from last into the top eight on the back of Tom Trbojevic’s return from injury.

Manly have won four of their five matches since Tommy Turbo came back into the side, scoring 36+ points in all of those victories.

Trbojevic has established a fantastic combination with Daly Cherry-Evans and lightning quick winger Jason Saab and the points have flowed as a result.

Saab has scored at least one try in his last six games, Trbojevic has crossed for six tries in five games since his return, while Cherry-Evans produced two try assists in the 50-6 win over the Broncos last week and has made 10 tackle breaks in his last two games.

It all shapes to what should be a cracking contest on Sunday. The Eels deserve favouritism, but the value is with Manly here.

The Sea Eagles are a different side with Tommy Turbo present – they can produce the upset here in what might turn out to be a low-scoring contest, with an average of 36 points scored at Bankwest this season.
