Newcastle Knights vs Wests Tigers Preview & Prediction

It’s a must-win game for the Knights if they want to keep their slim finals hopes alive when they play host to last-placed Wests Tigers on Friday night.

Newcastle have experienced a solid season, but they’ve lost a number of close games that means they are three points outside the top eight.

However, with games against the Tigers, Bulldogs and Dragons looming, they have a good opportunity to put themselves in a strong position.

The Knights should be confident after crushing the Bulldogs 66-0 in their last outing – a club-record win, with Kalyn Ponga and Bradman Best running riot.

Dane Gagai also returns for the Knights, so at home – where they’ve won their last four games against teams on a losing streak – they should be targeting another big score.

The Tigers have been horrific for most of the season and have won just three of their 16 games, coming into this contest on a five-game losing streak.

It’s just tough going for the Tigers at the moment – they’ve conceded 166 points in their last four games and managed just 30 themselves with Luke Brooks sidelined.

Api Koroisau returns from a broken jaw, but it’s going to take a massive effort for the Tigers to be competitive on the road.

VERDICT

Knights coming off 66-0 win over the Bulldogs and the Tigers have leaked 100 points in their last two defeats.

Newcastle have played much better at home this season, so they really should be winning this game comfortably (Best Knights 13+ margin odds $1.95 with bet365.)
