Cowboys vs Sharks Preview and Prediction

An intriguing game awaits in Townsville on Friday night when the Cowboys and Sharks with a spot in the top eight up for grabs.

North Queensland have been excellent at home this season and head into this showdown with a 5-2 record, winning their last five straight.

However, the Sharks have won the last six meetings between the teams, including a thumping 48-10 triumph earlier this season.

So, who prevails on Friday night and ends Round 15 in the top eight?

We’re going to be leaning with the Sharks as underdogs. After a horror six-game losing streak after sacking coach John Morris, the Sharks appeared to have turned a corner.

Indeed, Cronulla have won their last three matches and are now aiming to win four straight for the first time since 2018.

Their run began with a tight 13-12 victory over the Dragons before registering a 38-10 blowout of the Titans. The Sharks then won by a single point for the second time in three weeks after edging competition leaders the Panthers 19-18 last week.

It obviously must be noted that Penrith were missing their Origin stars, but it was still an impressive performance from the Sharks.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys continued their terrible away and were demolished 50-18 by the Sea Eagles last week after leading 12-0 early.

North Queensland continue to be involved in high scoring games this season, with their last three matches seeing 56 points or more.

VERDICT:

This contest could go either way, but we believe the Sharks are showing more positive signs.

Cronulla have the wood over North Queensland after winning their last six meetings, while they also have form on the board, prevailing in their last three NRL games. We’re happy to back the Sharks as underdogs here (Sharks win H2H best odds $2.02 with Ladbrokes).
