Penrith made it nine wins from ten at GIO Stadium, beating the Raiders 30-18 in a game they led from the 25th minute. The Panthers didn’t dominate territorially the way they had in R9 — Canberra got plenty of ball and looked dangerous in patches — but Penrith’s edge defence, ruck speed and ability to finish 50-50 plays converted pressure into points. Nathan Cleary was busy as ever, marshalling field position and kicking for territory; Brian To’o got over for two on the edge. Penrith remain top with a +181 points differential and head into Origin period as everyone’s premiership benchmark. Canberra drop to 4-6 — competitive but not closing games against the top tier.

Storm Halt the Slide — Big Win Over Wests Tigers

The most important result of the round for Melbourne. After the Dolphins ambush in R9 — a result that pushed the Storm’s slide into a four-game losing streak — Bellamy’s side needed a proper performance and got one. Storm 44 def. Wests Tigers 16 at AAMI Park, with the Storm’s middle dominating from kickoff and Cameron Munster looking back to his usual creative self. Harry Grant rolled big numbers from dummy half. After last week’s 42-38 shootout with the Rabbitohs, Newcastle could have been forgiven for another shaky defensive performance. Instead they delivered the opposite — Knights 44-10 at WIN Stadium, holding the Dragons to a single try and dominating the territory and possession battle from the opening 20 minutes. Dolphins Keep Rolling — Bulldogs No Match at Suncorp

The Dolphins’ hot run continued at Suncorp — 44-12 over the Bulldogs, with Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow scoring twice and the Phins’ middle producing 28-tackle defensive sets that the Dogs simply couldn’t penetrate. Wayne Bennett’s side now have a four-from-five run in a hot patch that has them looking like a genuine top-four contender. Eels Stun Cowboys on the Road — Round’s Big Variance Play

The upset of the round. Parramatta 33 def. Cowboys 30 at QCB Stadium, with the Eels taking the lead with eight minutes to play and holding on through a frantic Cowboys finish. Mitchell Moses kicked the matchwinning field goal. The Eels remain in the bottom half of the table (4-6) but get a much-needed road win to keep faint finals hopes alive; the Cowboys drop a critical home game and slip to 6-4 — their top-six position now under threat from the chasing pack.

Roosters, Sea Eagles, Rabbitohs All Take Care of Business

The three Sydney-based top-half sides all delivered straightforward wins. Roosters 28-12 over the Titans at Polytec Stadium — James Tedesco was best on, the Tricolours’ middle dominated. Sea Eagles 32-4 over the Broncos at 4 Pines was the defensive masterclass of the round — Manly held Brisbane to a single try and continue to look like the deepest defensive squad outside Penrith.
