Eels vs Cowboys Preview and Prediction

It’s been a dream start to the season for Parramatta, but they face a big test on Friday night against a team that has had the wood over them in recent meetings – and without one of their most influential players.

Mitchell Moses has been arguably the form player of the competition across the first seven rounds, but the star half suffered a calf injury in last week’s golden point win over Canberra and is out of this encounter.

Dylan Brown continues to come of age and has been impressive to begin the season – he will need to step in Moses’ absence and steer his side around the paddock.

Injury news aside, the Eels come into this clash on top of the table with just one defeat – and that came against rampant two-time premiers the Roosters.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys are running hot and cold and remain one of the competition’s most unpredictable teams.

One week after conceding 34 points in the first half of their loss against the Tigers, North Queensland piled on 26 points of their own in an opening half blitz of the in-form Knights before steadying for a 32-20 victory.

It was a superb performance and Paul Green will be hoping his team can find some consistency as they push towards the top eight.

However, they’ve got one of the toughest assignments in the NRL at the moment – taking on Parramatta at Bankwest.

The Eels might struggle without Moses’ creativity in the final third, but at home and in brilliant form to start the season, they should still have too much class for the inconsistent Cowboys.
