Eels vs Wests Tigers Preview and Prediction

The Eels go in search of their seventh consecutive victory over the Tigers when the two sides square off at Bankwest on Sunday.

Parramatta bounced back strongly after two disappointing defeats against the Rabbitohs and Sea Eagles by crushing the Knights 40-4 last week.

The Eels are gaining a reputation of being flat track bullies – meaning they beat who they are supposed to, but struggle against the elite – and last week added further credibility to that notion.

Having scored at least 32 points in their last seven wins, the Eels have no problem taking sides below them on the ladder to the woodshed – and that spells danger for the Tigers on Sunday.

In saying that, the Tigers will have a spring in their step after they became the first team to defeat the Panthers last week.

However, Penrith were missing eight of their best players to Origin, but the Tigers should be confident regardless.

Michael Maguire’s side won back-to-back games for the first time in 12 months courtesy of that victory, but they haven’t won three games in a row since 2018.

VERDICT:

As mentioned, the Eels usually beat those below them on the ladder and they’ve had the wood over the Tigers recently, winning the last six meetings.

The Tigers’ have always struggled with their consistency and winning three games on the trot is a big ask for them. All factors considered, the Eels will be coming out on top in what will likely be a high-scoring game (Eels win & over 48.5 points best odds $2.30 with Sportsbet).
