Titans vs Dragons Preview & Prediction

One of the most evenly poised games of Magic Round sees the embattled Titans square off against the Dragons at Suncorp on Saturday night.

It’s been a season to forget for the Titans so far, with Justin Holbrook’s side coming into this clash on the back of a five-game losing streak and just two wins from their nine games.

Gold Coast were competitive across the first six rounds of the competition, with the biggest margin in all of those games being eight points, but they’ve fallen off the pace recently, losing 30-4 to the Cowboys, 18-4 to the Panthers and 44-16 to the Roosters.

The Titans are a talented team with a lot of potential, but they are far too erratic and ill-disciplined to be a consistent force in the NRL right now. In saying that, they are due a win and this could be the perfect opportunity.

The Dragons have won three of their last four games to get their finals aspirations back on track, but they haven’t been that impressive during those victories.

To their credit, the Anzac Day win over the Roosters was a great performance, but the Tricolours were in awful form at that period of the season, while there other two victories were by six points or less over the lowly Knights and Tigers.

Last week the Dragons came up against the rampant Storm and after a decent first half, they fell away badly and were ultimately thumped 42-6.

VERDICT:

This is a coin toss, but we’re going to lean with the Titans.

Gold Coast have won the last two meetings between the teams and showed glimpses of what their capable of in recent losses to the Roosters and Panthers, while they were a chance of winning every game across the first six rounds.

Their fortunes are due a change and we don’t think the Dragons have been that impressive over the last month. The Titans are good value as the slight underdogs here (Best Titans win H2H odds $1.96 with Neds.)
