Dragons vs Titans Preview and Prediction

The race for a top eight spot continues on Sunday when the seventh-placed Dragons square off against the 11th-placed Titans at Cbus Super Stadium.

It may be a ‘home’ game for the Dragons, but they will be playing on enemy soil on the Gold Coast inside the Queensland bubble.

Honestly, it’s a miracle the Dragons are even inside the top eight. They’ve lost eight of their last 12 matches and are still recovering from 12 of their players breaching health protocols, resulting in various stars serving suspensions over a month-long period.

Corey Norman is the big loss this week for the Dragons, who were humbled 32-18 last week by a Manly side missing Tom Trbojevic and Daly Cherry-Evans.

In saying that, the Titans aren’t faring any better. In fact, they are going worse having lost five of their last six and seven of their last 10.

Gold Coast appeared to have turned a corner in crushing the Raiders 44-6 a fortnight ago, but they were forced back to the drawing board at training this week following a meek 26-8 loss to the Eels.

It’s a must-win game for both teams, but neither is in any sort of reliable form at the moment.

VERDICT:

It’s hard to pick either team with confidence, but we’re going to be leaning with the Titans at home. When they get it right, the Titans are a very dangerous side, but that’s happened few and far between over the last couple of months.

But the Dragons are arguably travelling worse right now and don’t look like they are adjusting to bubble life well. The Titans won the last meeting between the teams and we’ll tentatively back them to cover the -4.5 line on Sunday (Best Titans -4.5 line odds $1.90 with Sportsbet).
