Warriors vs Dragons Preview and Prediction

The Warriors and Dragons collide in a crucial contest that could have top eight implications by the end of the regular season.

Two of the six teams from seventh to 12th on the ladder separated by just two points, it goes without saying this is a huge game for both sides.

Currently in seventh spot on the ladder, the Dragons can cement their top eight status and put themselves in a strong position heading into the back-end of the season.

Meanwhile, the Warriors are sitting in 11th position and can’t afford to drop too many more games if they want to keep pace with the top eight.

The good news for the Warriors is that they’ve defeated the Dragons in the last five encounters between the sides, with only one of those matches played in New Zealand.

The Warriors are also boosted by the mid-season signings of Chad Townsend and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, but they do lose Reece Walsh to a hamstring injury for this clash.

The Dragons have been up and down all season, but at least they responded to their dismal loss to the Bulldogs by edging out the Raiders by two points in their last outing.

VERDICT:

We can expect another close clash between these two teams, with four of the last five being decided by eight points or less.

However, it’s been the Warriors who have come out on top in each of those five matches and we’ll be backing them to emerge victorious again here (best Warriors win odds $1.71 with Sportsbet)

It’s also worth noting that the last 18 meetings between the teams have seen under 50.5 total points.
