Rabbitohs vs Dragons Preview and Prediction

The Rabbitohs target a seventh straight win over the embattled Dragons when the two sides meet on the Sunshine Coast on Saturday night.

This clash is basically a dead rubber – the Rabbitohs have no chance of claiming the minor premiership, while they can’t finish lower than third and the Dragons’ season has been over for a long time now.

As a result, Wayne Bennett has decided to rest a bunch of his key figures, including Adam Reynolds, Cody Walker, Dane Gagai, Damien Cook, Alex Johnston, Cameron Murray and Jai Arrow.

Latrell Mitchell is also out for the season after his brutal hit on Joey Manu during the Bunnies’ crushing 54-12 victory over the Roosters last week.

Despite missing several of their stars, the Rabbitohs will still be confident of claiming another win over the Dragons.

It’s been a catastrophic turn of events for the Dragons since Paul Vaughan’s infamous barbecue, with the side losing a club-record seven consecutive matches.

The Dragons sunk to a new low last week when they were defeated by the Cowboys, who were on a 10-match losing streak themselves.

VERDICT:

With Souths missing their halves and best attacking players and the Dragons generally woeful right now, we’re not expecting too many points, so we’ll be backing the unders as our best bet (Best Under 52.5 points odds $1.90 with Sportsbet).

As far as a result goes, the Rabbitohs are decent value to make it eight straight defeats for their rivals.
