Broncos vs Roosters Preview & Prediction

The Broncos’ great start to the season is in danger of slipping away swiftly as they prepare to host the Roosters at Suncorp on Frida night.

Brisbane opened the campaign with back-to-back wins over the Rabbitohs and Bulldogs, but they’ve come crashing back down to earth over the last fortnight, suffering 13+ defeats to the Cowboys and Warriors.

It looks as if the Broncos are slipping back into old habits and coach Kevin Walters has a huge task ahead of him to avoid another long losing streak at Red Hill.

Making matters worse is injuries to Albert Kelly and Patrick Carrigan, while Thomas Fledger is suspended. Throw in the Payne Haas controversy with Kelly and the Broncos look deeply unsettled once more.

Adam Reynolds was one of the best halfbacks in the competition with superstars around him at the Rabbitohs, but he’s finding it tougher to take control with lesser players around him at the Broncos.

Meanwhile, the Roosters produced easily their best performance of the season last week to down the Cowboys by 24 points to get their season up and running.

It’s been an average start to the campaign for the Roosters, losing to the Knights and Rabbitohs in-between a win over Manly, so this is a great chance for Trent Robinson’s side to start building some momentum.

VERDICT:

The Roosters have won their last eight games against teams that failed to make the finals in 2021 and with the Broncos all over the place coming into this clash, they look good to extend that streak.

Brisbane’s defence has looked suspect in recent weeks and the Roosters found their attacking mojo last week, so with the last four meetings producing over 39.5 points, we’re backing the Tricolours home in a match going over the total points line (Best Roosters win H2H & over 39.5 points odds $2.25 with bet365.)
