Broncos vs Roosters Preview and Prediction

The Roosters continue their push for a top four spot when they come up against the lowly Broncos at Suncorp on Friday night.

Revenge will be at the forefront of the Roosters mind after they suffered a shock upset to Brisbane at the SCG earlier this season.

Brisbane piled on 18 points in the second half, but the Roosters were the victims of several unlucky calls by the officials and will be determined to come out on top in this reverse fixture.

Injuries have hit the Roosters hard this season and they have more big outs for this clash, with both Angus Crichton and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves sidelined.

Trent Robinson’s side had won four straight matches before last week’s six-point defeat to the Panthers and will be keen to steady the shit immediately as they look to chase down Parramatta and hold off Manly for fourth spot.

Meanwhile, the Broncos have showcased some improvement over the last couple of months, but they’ve still lost seven of their last 10 games.

Furthermore, Brisbane have won just two of their last 13 against top eight sides – and one of those was that aforementioned fortuitous win over the Roosters earlier this season.

The Broncos pushed the Knights in an eight-point loss last week, but they will need to lift even more in order to challenge the Roosters.

VERDICT:

Despite being nowhere close to full-strength for most of the season, the Roosters have managed to lock down fifth spot for the bulk of the year and are still fielding a strong team.

They’d won their last three games by 13+ margins before last week’s loss to the Panthers and they should be able to bounce back to win this clash against a Broncos team who have struggled against top eight teams all season (Best Roosters win & Under 51.5 points odds $2.56 with Ladbrokes).
