Knights vs Roosters Preview and Prediction
The Roosters will be hoping to keep pace with the top four when they come up against a Knights side going in the opposite direction on Saturday night.
Despite a growing casualty ward, the Roosters have managed to maintain a strong position on the ladder, coming into this clash in fifth spot.
Trent Robinson’s side produced the perfect response following their tough loss to reigning premiers Melbourne, conquering the Dragons by 24 points on Anzac Day.
Teenage sensation Sam Walker is proving a worthy replacement to the injured Luke Keary, with the playmaker crossing for a try in the win over St George Illawarra. In fact, only the Storm have been able to stop Walker from guiding the Roosters to victory since Keary’s season-ending injury.
With a great recent record against the Knights, the Roosters will be confident of extending their winning momentum into another week.
Newcastle have their own playmaker injury worries, with Mitchell Pearce still out for the next couple of months.
The Knights have now lost four of their last five matches, including a 24-6 defeat to the unbeaten Panthers last week. Newcastle managed to go toe-to-toe with the Panthers for much of the game, but they couldn’t hang with last season’s Grand Finalists in the second half.
James Tedesco is in some tough for the Roosters after suffering a head knock last week, but even without him, the tricolours will still likely get the job done. The Knights don’t have many points in them without Pearce, and on the back of a strong defence, the Roosters should come out on top.
Knights vs Roosters Teams
Connor Watson has been named to start for the Knights as coach Adam O’Brien searches for some more creativity in the halves.
Tedesco is in some doubt, with Joey Manu set to shift to fullback and Matt Ikuvalu to join the side on the wing if he is indeed ruled out.
