Tigers vs Broncos Preview and Prediction

Friday night’s clash at Leichhardt is a big game for both sides, with the Broncos trying to register back-to-back wins for the first time since the opening two rounds and the Tigers aiming to snap a two-match losing run.

Brisbane have been absolutely woeful since the competition restart, but they finally returned to the winners circle last week with an 18-point victory over the Bulldogs.

However, it wasn’t a great performance by any means and almost every other team in the competition would have likely beaten the Broncos on that night.

In saying that, winning breeds confidence, so perhaps the Broncos are about to return to their best and go on a run as they look for make an unlikely push towards the eight?

Meanwhile, the Tigers have crashed back down to earth after a couple of big wins over the Cowboys and Bulldogs, falling in close defeats to the Panthers and Rabbitohs over the last fortnight.

It’s more inconsistency for Michael Maguire and the Tigers, but they weren’t bad displays by any means, and the Tigers can take some solace from the fact they pushed two premiership contenders for the majority of those matches.

The Tigers have improved in defence and have proven they can hang with the very best for long periods, but not quite the full 80 minutes.

If they are serious about making the top eight this season, this is simply a match they must win. With a new halves combination, I’m not expecting a big scoreline, but I’m confident backing the Tigers against a Broncos side that still has a lot to prove.
